Dr. Roger Rihmland is Executive Director and Head of Financial Institutions Mergers & Acquisitions Frankfurt.

Roger graduated as Diplom-Kaufmann from the University of Münster (Germany), as Master of Business Administration from the University of Wales at Bangor (UK), as Master of Science in Finance from the University of Leicester (UK) and as Ph.D. from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (Austria).

He is advising on investments, divestments and mergers of financial institutions in Germany and partially in Austria as well as in Central and Eastern Europe. In addition, he is supporting  on non-performing and performing loan portfolio transactions.

Before he joined EY in 2012 he worked for Commerzbank’s Central & Eastern Europe Holding as a Divisional Head responsible for Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions, Investment Portfolio Management, Compliance / Regulatory and Human Resources (2008-2012). He has been member of Supervisory Boards of banks in Romania and Belarus.

He started his career with Deutsche Bank, where he worked in the Corporate Development Unit (AfK) on international Mergers & Acquisitions transactions in the banking and insurance sector in Europe and China (2000-2005).
In addition, he spent 2 years in the Corporate Development Unit of former WestLB (2005-2007) and was Head of Business Development at comdirect bank (2007-2008).
Moreover, he has experience with legal/tax restructurings, legal foundations, carve-outs, spin-offs, cross-border contributions in kind and liquidations of various bank-related companies in Europe.

He is a regular guest speaker on Financial Institutions M&A at WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Koblenz and at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.
