Citibank’s CEO for Central Europe and Country Head for Hungary
Kevin A. Murray assumed the role of Citi’s CEO – Citi Country Officer & Country Head for Hungary, Serbia and Balkan & Baltic Regions in February 2016. In addition to this role, in May 2016 Kevin was appointed the CEO for Citi’s five presence countries in Central Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria). In August, 2017 he accepted the Chairman’s position of the Foreign Bankers’ Club in Budapest.
Prior to his current position, Kevin spent eight years as the Managing Director for Citi’s businesses in West & Central Africa, based in Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire, where he was also the bank’s CEO, and Chairman of the Boards of Directors for the five Citi franchises in the region.
Before moving to Africa, he was Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) Markets and Banking, from 2006 to 2008. From 2005 to 2006 he was COO for the Central Europe division, based in Budapest.
Kevin has more than 30 years of experience with Citi, starting as a Management Associate within the Investment Bank’s Public Finance group; since then, he has held various positions in the Corporate & Investment Bank, Private Banking, Risk and Internal Audit. During his career with Citi, he has been posted in the US, India, Japan, Hungary, UK, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry from Fordham University, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an MBA from New York University. Kevin is a Senior Credit Officer. He is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U. S. Air Force.
